Accessing Your Unshakable Core

The other day, I was having a conversation with my husband. I had been having a rough stretch, in and out of shadowy realms and coming up for breathers, for most of this year, to be honest. Having explored both my wounded and protective parts, I was making a suggestion that some of his behavior might be a protective part. He countered by saying something along the lines of: “I have an unshakable core that gives me quiet confidence. I am not debating that; it’s my truth.” My first reaction was to counter with the thought that his behavior was just covering up a more vulnerable side of himself. Then I took a beat, and a truth emerged for me.

Now, I’ve been long aware of our Divine Spark; our inherent divinity, and the fact that we are of Source, an aspect of Source expressing itself in a big, interactive play of sorts. But perhaps through my deeper shadow work, I’d been focusing on the wounded parts and the protective parts so much, that I forgot about the truth of my own Unshakable Core. My husband’s simple explanation really revealed a deep truth inside of me.

The way Spirit helped me to visualize this is to imagine the rings of a tree when cut open. At the very center of the tree, the origin point if you will, there is an unshakable core. When we experience traumas, hurts, etc., a layer of distortion surrounds the core. Then the layer beyond that becomes the protective part; the part that does whatever behavior is perceived to keep the person safe. These layers of trauma and protection can become quite encompassing: imagine having many traumas and other life circumstances that continue out so far that it is hard to remember our Unshakable Core. .

The way I have understand people engaging in violence, committing heinous crimes - even genocide - is to imagine that their Divine Spark (or Unshakable Core) has been covered up by trauma and wounding. With no deep work or self reflection, they have lost access to their divinity. As a strong believer in free will, I do believe that it is possible for anyone to get back to their core, with enough work, and willingness to experience the inevitable discomfort of examining their behaviors.

And honestly, this idea of an Unshakable Core has been transformative for me, in a short period. I’m not sure why it landed so impactfully of me, but it has. You know how sometimes, you can understand a concept but then, you really get it after you “level up” by doing deep healing and contemplative work? That is how I feel that this concept has recently landed with me. I’ve recently shared this with other friends who were also immediately impacted by it, which is why I’ve chosen to write about this.

So how about you, reader? How does this concept land? Does it give you peace? A sense of deeper security? The awareness that everything will be OK? That the soul can never be destroyed? Meditate with this concept, journal about it, feel into it. And perhaps, when the going gets tough, you can really lean into this truth.

(A simple meditation practice using The Pillar of Light frequency from Auric Light Alchemy to access your Unshakable Core):

Sit upright in a chair or on the floor. Intend that the Pillar of Light is running from above your head, and anchoring you into the Earth. Watch, sense, or feel the band of light purifying you down to your center. Then ask to be connected to your Unshakable Core. Sense in. Practice automatic writing, where you allow yourself to journal or draw after this exercise, and notice what comes up.
