Creator Mode, Activated
I recently listened to a YouTube interview with a near death experiencer, Vinney Tolman, who brought up an interesting concept that he had gleaned from his experience. He talked about how we, as humans, are consumers. We consume food, clothing, media, and so much more. We are operating, as consumers, from a place of lack. We have been taught and conditioned, even groomed, to consume. Vinney suggested that we need to create more than consume. It’s funny that when you have an idea that is percolating in your mind, that it will sometimes show up in a book, in a podcast, through a friend, or even online synchronistically; I have been invested in creating (for creation’s sake) for a while now. The way that Vinney framed this concept confirmed and validated my beliefs around creating.
I believe that we are all creators, and that many (most) people don't see themselves that way. There is no need to go back to art school (unless that is your passion) for this change in perspective. There are so many ways to create: through painting, sculpting, singing, baking, moving, dancing, writing, knitting, sewing, acting, gardening, dressing, and even running a business. I like the idea of getting into the beginner’s mindset, and allowing yourself to be messy.
Creation for creation’s sake does not worry about the buyer or audience. It does not worry about being perceived. It does not worry about the outcome. Creation for creation’s sake is all about being in the flow state. And what is the flow state, really? I believe it’s connection to Source energy, the universal grid, the Field. When we can create without perfectionism, without preconceptions, we may be able to closer access truth. And the messier, the better. The more we learn, and the more we can build something different the next go-round. The better we can express our emotions through creations and being in flow with ALL of our emotions. Furthermore, I believe that the more we can access the flow state, the more improved our health is: health of mind, body, and spirit.
Please take a quiet moment now, and make this statement, if you choose, silently, or aloud to activate your “creator mode”:
I choose to be a creator today. I give myself permission to be messy, to make mistakes, and to be authentically imperfect with my creations. Through creating, I call upon the flow state to guide me. I create for myself today and every day. Creator mode activated.
Try this for a week, and see how it goes. Report back in the comments below. Sending you love and compassion for all the ways that you choose to create.
